The Russians invented everything first, you know.

    Re: Russian drivers

It's a diyAudio.com thing. Bud is Bud Purvine. He invented a series of dashes in rings that go on the driver. Like a much finer version of the ridges you see on the Russian driver.

There is a lot of controversy as to its effects or lack there of. Bud does claim to have invented it over 20 years ago, so maybe he was working for the Russians, who knows?

Oops! Sorry, meant to provide links. Be forewarned though, some of the claims, especially WRT room wall, horn mouth and cab treatment, make 'cable' or similar thread audibility claims seem de facto true, they're so far-fetched from a technical POV. Indeed, a pity Lee T. Neidow is no longer active (alive?) as now more than ever we need a more modern, heavy duty version of his SPBSD (Solar Powered Bull Shit Detector) to cope with such esoterica:

EnABL - Technical discussion - diyAudio

EnABL application for pro horn driver. - diyAudio

EnABL How-To for Fostex FE127e and other speakers - diyAudio
